The first year my mother was at Wellesley College there was a to-do in the dorm because it was reported that Barbara Larner had a picture of a nude male on her wall. This was about 1937. When inspected she pointed to the drawing she had done as a student in the sculpture court at the Museum of Fine Arts --"You mean this??!!" This is the only painting she ever did of a nude.
